This solar thermal installation uses a Drain back design to harness sun heated water for showers and other domestic uses. Designed and installed by Integrated Elements, the system has 120 square feet of collectors that heat 200 gallons of water. The design uses gravity to empty the panels at the end of each daily heating cycle, which protects against freeze damage in the Winter. The tank will support a dozen showers, and incorporates a Propane backup heater for cloudy days.
